I AM running the latest High Sierra and related point-updates. But otherwise none of the other issues described in this thread - the touchbar is operating as per usual right now. Only real change I've noticed is that I can no longer dim the screen to the point where the backlighting shuts off entirely. So far I haven't experienced MAJOR issues. Until yesterday I was running plain old Windows 10, and the Creators Update only went through this morning. I've only had my new MBP around 3 weeks now. I will probably run into other issues irrespective of the hardware platform (MS plans to force two major updates per year on its customers) but at least I'll have physical buttons on the keyboard for function keys and escape. MS must have the telemetry on this problem, however, after reading the KB that shipped after the 1703 build it's clear that they given up on QA and "outsourced" that function to their Windows Insiders. I was always concerned that this situation may arise where software incompatibility issues would render the input mechanism unusable under Windows. I'm not happy that my $5.3K CDN laptop is now unsuitable for its intended use case but I can't wait around for a solution. I've ordered a new Windows workstation laptop from another manufacturer. I can cancel out of that dialog and use the machine (sans touchbar). Shortly after a cold restart BootCamp will issue (sic) "The system has encountered an error. MacOS Sierra is current (10.12.6) and only application updates show as being available. Windows update shows the feature update (1703) on Jand then three subsequent updates, none of which reference the touchbar. Hopefully if enough people have this issue then MS/Apple will figure it out.īoth sides are fully updated/patched. Unfortunately I am one of those developers who still uses those old, ancient function keys along the top row of the keyboard (who needs those anyway, right Phil)? The device is usually docked to external monitors and a keyboard so I didn't notice the problem right away (and I wouldn't trust the Windows 10 Recovery option to revert to a prior version of the OS anyway). I have also tried downloading the most recent Windows Support Software using BootCamp assistant, however, it always fails and can't save the download to any target (including external USB FAT memory sticks). I tried reinstalling the original BootCamp drivers from November 2016 but it didn't fix the problem. The touch bar no longer works in BootCamp, but it does in OSX (it's completely black in BootCamp, which detects an issue and wants to reboot to resolve it but the problem does not go away). Update finished "successfully" (at least I still have a bootable device). Inline update from AU to CU (15" MacBook Pro (2016), top-spec). Touch bar fails in BootCamp - Windows 10 CU
